The perfect weekend for us is a trip down to Kansas City. Our family loves to head out early and go to Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun. We start the day as soon as Oceans of Fun opens. We love to float in the Carribean Cooler. Then we head over to ride the fun Aruba Tuba and amazing Hurricane Falls. Then we head over for some high impact rides at Worlds of Fun. There we make sure to hit the coasters which includes The Prowler, Spinning Dragons, The Patriot and of course, The Mamba.
We usually try to stay at the Westin Crown Center when we are in Kansas City. The hotel is beautiful and an awesome location. This puts us at the Crown Center and very close to Crown Plaza where we can do some fun shopping. First thing in the morning, we have window shopping, lunch at the Plaza at the infamous Cheesecake Factory.
Sunday afternoon is reserved for Science City at Union Station. This family-friendly attraction features live animal exhibits, outer space attractions, a mystery to solve, a high wire bicycle ride and a variety of other science focused attractions. The place has stuff for both the kids and adults.
No trip to Kansas City is complete without a trip across the border to eat at T-rex before we head home. Kansas City borders two states, so it is only a 15 minute drive to eat at this fun restaurant. It features animatronic animals, a simulated volcano and great food. |
