Where to Eat...

Breakfast

I would eat at either Chubby's on Broadway because it's a local favorite among the younger crowd. It's got a great diner interior with red booths and black and white tiles. I might go to Winstead's just a block north of the Plaza because they have good inexpensive breakfasts in a diner-style atmosphere. I have another favorite, the name always escapes me. It's at the corner of 39th and Southwest Trafficway, the yellow diner that's open 24 hours a day. We always drink coffee there. They all have good diner food.

Lunch

I would definitely eat at the Classic Coffee Cup Cafe on the Plaza. It is elegant, yet affordable. The food is superb. You can sit outdoors. The tables are covered with white tablecloths and the waiters are wearing tuxes. There are big glass windows to look out at the lovely Plaza while dining. I may eat a steak.

Dinner

I would go to Jardine's Restaurant and Jazz Club on Main Street, just around the corner from the Plaza in a beautiful row of dark red brick buildings. It is cozy, dark, romantic, and the live music is always good. The food is very good.

What to Do...

Morning

I would take a walk in Loose Park while waiting for the world to wake up and open their shops. I like to walk around the edge of the entire park, under the pine trees and across the bridge to watch the ducks. All around me are huge luxury mansions and high-rise old-style light brick condos that are breathtakingly beautiful. I'm right above the Mediterranean-styled and very famous Plaza area of shops, restaurants, and offices.

Afternoon

I would walk around the Plaza and visit Saks 5th Avenue. I like looking at their jewelry cases, purses, and sunglasses. I'd go to Victoria's Secret and maybe buy some new lingerie. They have the most beautiful dressing rooms here. I would go by Barnes & Noble and visit Starbucks on the second floor for a cup of coffee after picking up a book or two off the shelves and settle into a comfy chair. I would go by the famous stationery store, another name that escapes me. I love looking at high-end office accessories. I would probably duck into a hip clothing store or two. I would go by Mac Cosmetics and see all the makeup. I would drop by the Apple Store because I am a Mac, not a PC.

Evening

I would linger at Jardine's and listen to music. Dinner takes longer here, so that's fine with me. It's a very romantic environment, and a comfortable one to stay awhile.

Late Night

If I'm staying out this late, I'd have to go up the block a few and go to Westport where all the clubs and bars are located and go dancing. There's always live bands playing. Many of the clubs are downstairs and they are all right next to each other. So I may have a few drinks too. I have a regular taxi cab driver in Kansas City, so I don't have to worry.

Kansas City is a fun and beautiful city. There's lots of hills and incredible architecture. It's a nice city to drive in, the way the highways and bridges curve around. Lots of green and trees on the hills.
